Reciprocity

Reciprocity refers to the complementary one-to-one exchange of job-search resources between the George Washington University Law School (GW Law) students and students from law schools outside of the DC Metro Area.

Reciprocity Policy

Services are available on a one-to-one basis only to those accredited law schools that allow GW Law students and/or alumni to use their resources.

Reciprocal privileges are available only to second-, third-, and fourth-year students or graduates for a three-month period, beginning with the date of acceptance or until July 15th (whichever comes first). Renewal requests will be treated as a new request and may therefore be denied. Students/graduates granted reciprocity will have remote access to our online job board for up to three months. GW Law may deny further services to any school seen to surpass a reasonable number of requests within a given calendar year or to individuals who abuse the resources, services, or staff.

Reciprocity will not be granted during our annual blackout periods: February 1 - May 31 and July 15 - October 15. Without exception, students/graduates of other schools who have been granted reciprocity with GW Law will not be permitted to participate in recruiting programs, make a counseling appointment, or use school equipment. Reciprocity is not available between DC Metro Area law schools.

How to Request Reciprocity at GW Law

All requests for services must be made via email to careersatlaw [dot] gwu [dot] edu (careers[at]law[dot]gwu[dot]edu) by the student's/graduate's Career Development Office. That office should copy the student in the request email. It may take up to two weeks for GW Law to process the request.

Once the request has been processed and approved, students/graduates will receive login instructions for our online job board (CORE) via email.

If you are a GW Law student who would like to request Reciprocity at another law school, you must fill out our Reciprocity Request Form.
