Alumni Career Services
The Center for Professional Development and Career Strategy ("Career Center") is pleased to assist GW Law JD alumni who are contemplating a job change or seeking employment. We welcome inquiries from graduates and hope you will contact us if we can assist you. Our services for graduates are set forth below.
Join GW Law Link
Stay connected to the GW Law community from anywhere in the world with GW Law Link—the new online platform that brings students and alumni together. Whether you're looking to build your professional network, reconnect with classmates, or give back by mentoring the next generation of legal minds, GW Law Link offers the perfect space to make a lasting impact. Join today to expand your connections, share your expertise, and continue being an integral part of the GW Law legacy.
Career Consultations and Mock Interviews
Counseling services are available for all JD alumni. We are happy to discuss resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing preparation, job search strategies, networking, informational interviewing, and any other issues of interest to you. We are also available to conduct mock interviews. We strongly recommended this for anyone who has an upcoming interview - you can never be too prepared!
*LLM alumni should contact the Graduate and International Programs Office to be referred to the appropriate counselor.
Job Postings
Job notices for graduates are posted online through CORE. These regularly updated listings include openings received directly from employers and vacancies from selected legal newspapers, periodicals, job newsletters, and various websites.
CORE uses single sign-on (SSO) to link directly to your GW Law Google account. If you have any trouble logging into CORE, or if you do not have a GW Law Google account, please contact the career center office. If you need temporary or guest access, please fill out our Application for Alumni Access to CORE and we will do our best to process your request within 48 hours.
If you would like to post a job for a current student or GW Law graduate, you can do so through the CORE Employer Portal, or by emailing us at [email protected].
Judicial Clerkships
The Clerkship Office (within the Career Center) assists alumni who are interested in pursuing post-graduate judicial clerkships. For additional information, please visit the Career Center's Judicial Clerkships webpage.
GW Career Connect
GW Career Connect is the university-wide career network. This online community brings together GW students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends for professional connections, career advice, and networking opportunities. Feel free to answer questions being crowd-sourced in discussion areas and share information and opportunities within the industry communities. We invite you to join the Law and Legal Services Industry Community to connect with other members of the GW community working in the legal industry.

Schools that grant reciprocity may offer it only during certain times of the year (typically between December and July). In addition, reciprocity may only be offered for a finite period of a few months or less, and other restrictions may be imposed. View GW Law's Reciprocity Policy. To request reciprocity, please contact the Career Center at [email protected] or (202) 994-7340.
Westlaw and Lexis Advance
Westlaw and Lexis Advance services remain available to alumni for a limited time after graduation. Please visit the Jacob Burns Law Library’s Database Access page for details. Westlaw has a Careers tab, with a number of links to advice on managing your career. Lexis Advance offers extensive online databases for job hunters, including Martindale-Hubbell.
