- When is the Career Center open and where is it located?

We are open Monday–Friday from 9am–5pm and are located in Burns 310.
- What does the Career Center do?

Our office assists students and alumni in all phases of career strategy and professional development. We provide personalized career counseling, conduct mock interviews, review application documents, coordinate with employers for job postings, host career panels and job fairs, conduct job skills workshops, and more.
- How do I make an appointment with a counselor?

You may make an appointment with a counselor online or by calling our office at 202.994.7340.
- What is CORE?
-
CORE is the Career Center’s database for job postings, OCI, resource library, events and workshops. CORE uses single sign-on (SSO) to link directly to your GW Law Google account. If you receive an error message when attempting to log in, it may be because are logged into a personal (non-GW Law) Google account. Please try logging out of your personal Google account or launching CORE in a separate browser.
Alternatively, you can log into you GW Law Google account, click the Google Apps icon in the upper-right corner, then “More,” then click the CORE icon to automatically log in.
CORE is available to all GW Law students and alumni. Contact us with any questions.
- I don't have an appointment but I have an urgent question, can you help?

We have a drop-in counselor available to answer questions and provide guidance on discrete issues during our office hours. We accept drop-ins by phone or in-person. All drop-in requests are first-come, first-served.
- I work during the day and I can't make it into the office, may I still talk to someone?

Yes! Evening students may schedule after-hours or lunchtime appointments with the designated Evening Student Career Counselor. These appointments may be conducted by phone. Select Evening Appointments when scheduling an appointment.
- I heard there is a job fair, but I can't find any details, where should I go?

All Career Center events are posted in CORE. Once logged in, go to the Events section in the left navigation bar to get started. The event listings in CORE include events sponsored by the Career Center (career panels, workshops, job fairs, etc.), as well as external events that may be of interest to law students (events hosted by employers, networking opportunities, and more).
- What are the workshops and when are they offered?

The Career Center offers a series of interactive workshops for students throughout the year. Workshops are offered on Resume Writing, Cover Letter Writing, Informational Interviews, Job Search Resources, and Interview Skills. All workshops & webinars require registration in CORE. Career Center Workshops are eligible for Foundations of Practice credit.
