Inclusion at GW Law
The Center for Professional Development and Career Strategy (Career Center) at GW Law is dedicated to partnering with all of our students to develop their personalized career plans.
Resources for Diversity Personal Statements
As part of the application process for many scholarship opportunities, employers often require a diversity personal statement.
For additional diversity resources, please refer to GW Law's Diversity Statement FAQs and Template. You may also visit the NALP Best Practice Guide for First-Year Diversity Fellowships. If you need further assistance with your diversity statement, make an appointment with a counselor.
Employment Opportunities
Many firms and other organizations offer academic-year, summer, and post-graduate scholarship or fellowship opportunities for students who meet their eligibility criteria. All opportunities are posted in the Job Listings section of CORE. To view a list of all opportunities, go to the Job Listings section, then click "+More Filters," select “Affinity Groups and Bar Associations” and then click “Yes". Each opportunity has specific eligibility criteria and application instructions, and application deadlines will occur throughout the year.
Additional opportunities may be listed in the database of 1L LCLD Scholar Opportunities. For more information on monetary scholarships, visit our Scholarships & Summer Funding page.
Events & Job Fairs
Career Fairs are typically hosted during the summer months. These job fairs are hosted throughout the country and target students who are interested in a particular geographic market or practice area. Some fairs are limited to certain class years whereas others are open to all law students, including recent graduates. Be sure to check the eligibility requirements.
The Career Center often receives invitations for affinity group events hosted by employers and bar associations – including networking receptions, panel discussions, and more. A few examples of events that happen every year are below. These third-party events, which are open to all students, will be posted in CORE. To view upcoming events, log into CORE, navigate to the Events section, and change the “Event Type” to “Affinity Group Programming.”
